The lilies in this painting were loosely painted with just the right amount of detail included. I used delicate colours and fine lines to suggest the form of the flowers, and left other parts of the flowers undefined and loose. I wanted my choice of pinks and greens to remind you of the sweet and elegant fragrance of the lilies. I employed the  watercolour wet-on-wet colour wash technique to allow the different colours in the background to bleed and merge into the colours in the foreground (flowers and plant), creating a softly defined space that is dreamy and feminine.
