This trio of peonies was painted in a different manner than my usual style of painting. I planned out this painting (composition) and included many details into the petals. I usually do not add too many details. When I paint flowers as I want my paintings to capture the essence of the flowers- loose, soft, and dreamy. However, I decided to add many details this time as I wanted to portray the elegance of peonies through the line details. I also wanted to show how these delicate petals crease, fold, and undulate in a poignant manner. 

I painted the flowers with different shades of pink, red, purple, beige, and white to add depth and dimension to these flowers. I chose to paint the leaves in a dull shade of greenish browns and yellowish greens to show juxtaposition between the strong pop of pink colour of the peonies and the surrounding elements (plants). Even the background was painted with greyish purple so that the flowers would take centre stage, and the background would be eye pleasing but not attention grabbing.

I hope that you enjoy viewing my painting as much as I loved painting this piece! I felt satisfied after working on a bigger scale (larger than my usual paintings).
