I love receiving rose bouquets! There is something so heart fluttering about receiving a pink rose bouquet! In this painting, I wanted to immortalise the moment of excitement when receiving a bouquet like that. I painted my roses at an angle where they seem to be enthusiastically sprouting out of their wrapping paper, it is like these roses can't wait to be seen and admired.

The background (purple and yellow areas) mimics the wrapping cloth that roses are usually wrapped in. The sharp and hard edges of the background (wrapping cloth) are a stark contrast to the soft and organic form of the roses.
